The significant growth in the scale and sophistication of Australia’s community housing sector has been revealed with the release at the International Housing Partnership Exchange of a new report that outlines further expected gains over the next two years that will be critical to tackling housing affordability.
The Sector Capacity Prospectus 2017-18 shows that collectively Australia’s 30 largest scale Community Housing Providers have over the last four years:
- almost doubled the number of housing units under management to more than 50,000;
- seen the value of this stock grow 80 per cent to $15.4 billion; and
- provided safe, secure and affordable housing for more than 80,000 people as at June 2017.
