PowerHousing Australia History

PowerHousing Australia was established in 2006 by not-for-profit community and affordable housing companies and training organisations from Victoria, Western Australia, NSW, Queensland and the ACT.

These organisations had extensive experience in assisting low to moderate income Australians into their own homes.

PowerHousing Australia's founders were determined to build a national capacity to continue delivering community and affordable housing services to their local communities in a rapidly changing service delivery environment.

PowerHousing Australia recognised the need to be proactive to ensure that community housing companies were not marginalised by government and private enterprise in the evolution of affordable housing in Australia.  This was carried out to ensure PowerHousing is part of the solution, not just embroidery on the fabric of affordable housing across the country.

Since its formation, PowerHousing Australia's membership has continually grown significantly with strategic additions to membership giving our network coverage across Australia.

Member organisations retain their strong local identity and are distinguished by their links with their communities and a proud history of delivering services to those local communities.

By joining PowerHousing Australia, member organisations gain a greater capacity by becoming part of a network providing the best practice, contract management and quality assurance strengths that a national network provides.

"We are non-profit entrepreneurs leveraging the power of partnerships to create affordable housing and economic opportunities for individuals, families, and communities".

PowerHousing Australia is a peer network and business alliance of the nation's top-performing non-profit housing organisations.

Our members are entrepreneurial, innovative, and grounded in their local markets through partnerships with private and public sectors as well as being community leaders who aim to combine their community mission with business acumen to achieve maximum social impact.

Our clients, government and the private sector benefit from this unique partnership.

PowerHousing Australia is now a member of the International Housing Partnership - a peer network of NFP Housing Providers in Australia, Canada, the UK and USA providing safe, secure and affordable homes.
